Relationships
You know, I remember learning at a very young age that you are only as good as the people you have around you. Every great student, teacher, musician, parent or company CEO must surround him or herself with the best resources and people with the highest integrity in order to achieve both personal and team expectations and success.
When I’m traveling the world, my relationships are just as important as what’s in the fridge of my galley.
This is early morning in Lyford Cay, Bahamas.… George (to my right) is a fishmonger, which means, providing the weather is good, he sets me up with the best fresh fish in the islands a couple times a week. As a local resident, his expertise and extensive contacts both on and off shore are invaluable to me — if you need it, he can get it. To be your best…You need a George!
To my left is David Whitefield. He’s one of the guys: An old fashioned true charter chef and one of the most accomplished chefs I have ever had the opportunity to work with. We collaborated to make some AMAZING food!
I actually first had the opportunity to meet David while aboard another private yacht and I’m so honored to not only have him as a reference but also as a personal friend. |
